Who Are We?

We are a small business making handcrafted soaps, shampoo bars, conditioner bars, beard balms, deodorants, lip balms and more with an ethos of making as little of a carbon imprint in the process as possible. We try to use ingredients that are locally grown whenever possible, in fact we grow many of the ingredients our self in the "Wyrd Allotment". The majority of our materials are British sourced, with only a few hailing from our European neighbours, and in the case of coconut oil (which we use in only a few products) we guarantee that it is ethically harvested. All of our products are palm, cruelty and plastic free so you know that whenever you purchase one of our items it is always an ethical choice.

Our Philosophy

We believe that it is important for all of us to reconnect with the potential of our local resources in order to help make for a more sustainable future. To that end, The Wyrd Soap Company uses British grown carrier oils such as soy and hemp as much as possible. We also use local botanicals (many of which we raise ourselves) such as Nettles, Horse Tail, Woad, Madder Root, Beet Root, Fennel, Lavender, Clary Sage, Peppermint and Rose Mary, amongst others. This connects our products to the actual soil they are being made on and reconnects us with our cultural heritage.

Our Name

This connecting with the past in order to create a more sustainable future is why we chose "The Wyrd Soap Company" as our name. The Anglo-Saxon term "wyrd" relates to the concept of fate or destiny, which is pretty apt for a start up company with a philosophy such as ours. But, not only does this ancient word reflect us philosophically but it also provides us a nifty little pun. Our soaps and other products might be considered kind of "weird" because they are not like anything you would find on the shelves of one of the big grocery chains. We are quite proud of our unique, "weirdness" and hope that you will "Get Wyrd" by giving our products a try.
